By refusing to address dangerous working conditions in some areas, the waste collection giant has sparked a national labour conflict and a potential public health catastrophe. In others, it is a refusal to negotiate contracts in good faith. Republic is even accused of violating federal labour rules that safeguard workers’ rights and safety.

Due to Republic’s actions, strikes and picket extensions could disrupt garbage service and cause trash pile ups in nearly 50 cities, affecting more than 6 million residents and businesses.
